Multiply – helping adults improve their Maths
If you’re aged 19 and over and don’t have maths GCSE at grade C (or equivalent), you can access free numeracy courses through Multiply to build your confidence with numbers and gain a qualification.
Benefits
Good numeracy skills may unlock job opportunities and lead to higher wages or prepare you for further study. They also help in everyday life, such as helping children with homework and budgeting money.
There are courses for beginners to more advanced courses such as GCSE Maths, Functional Skills Qualifications, or equivalent, so you will be able to learn at a pace that suits you.

We will be running a series of short courses, each lasting 3 hours, covering the following topics.
My Energy (Costs) Focused on the increased costs surrounding energy and fuel, with discussions on understanding utility bills and practical ways of reducing costs in the home.
Cooking on a Budget An introductory session to teach learners how to plan and cook simple, healthy, nutritious meals that are both affordable and delicious.
My Green World Teaches about climate change, the environment, and sustainability to:
- Develop a sense of responsibility for the environment.
- Encourage students to get involved in community-based environmental initiatives.
- Become active participants in creating a more sustainable world.
Numeracy for Me (ESOL) Helps learners to see the relevance of numeracy in their everyday lives. This would include words and phrases related to numbers, basic maths such as handling money, measurements, weight, and time.
The programme is delivered by Sheffield City Council and is funded by UK Government through the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority.
